She plays Violet – a young English vocalist who enters an American Idol style competition to realise her dreams. According to an official plot description, “Violet is a shy teenager who dreams of escaping her small town and pursuing her passion to sing. With the help of an unlikely mentor, she enters a local singing competition that will test her integrity, talent and ambition. Driven by a pop-fueled soundtrack, Teen Spirit is a visceral and stylish spin on the Cinderella story.”
It’s headed by first time director Max Minghella’s and is set to be released on April 5, 2019. You can watch the first trailer below.
Earlier this month, Robyn shared behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot of her recent ‘Honey’ video.
The Swedish pop star, who released her eighth album ‘Honey’ in October, shared the club-inspired visuals for the title track at the beginning of December. Directed by Max Vitali, the video sees Robyn party with fans in a hazy London church.
With the singer posting a casting call for the video’s shoot on Twitter, the clip opened with fans speaking about landing a role and their experiences on set. One says that he had travelled from Austrailia to take part.
“I grew up in a very small rural island in Canada,” another fan adds. “Robyn was like definitely one of my first findings on my journey to becoming what I am now.”
Elsewhere, Robyn says: “It’s 8 o’clock in the morning – I’ve been dancing all night.”
