The music the singer was working on at the time of his death looks like seeing the light of day...
The release of Elliott Smith’s last album could be this year.
The singer died of an apparent suicide last year. At the time of his death he was working on a new album, which had a working title of ’From A Basement On The Hill’.
Gary, Elliott Smith’s father, told the website [url=]www.sweetadeline.net that the album is being mixed and could be released this year.
He said: “We have received many questions about the sale of [a][/a]’s studio and the release of his new CD. We are beginning the final mixing and production phase in mid-May and are planning for a September or October release. We will know the name of the label by the end of the month and I’ll let you know just as soon as the final decision is made.”
Born in 1969, Smith loved music from an early age. He released five albums, the most critically acclaimed in the mid-90s, titled ’Either/Or’ and ’XO’.
His most mainstream success however came when his song ’Miss Misery’ from the film Good Will Hunting’ was nominated for an Academy Award in 1997.
