SIR ELTON JOHN is to present the final episode of TFI FRIDAY, NME.COM can exclusively reveal.
A spokesperson for the show confirmed this morning that the flamboyant pop veteran is to present the last episode of the long running Friday night Channel 4 entertainment series.
Sir Elton John has close connections with Chris Evans and the Ginger group, who as well as TFI Friday, are responsible for shows such as The Priory and the National Lottery show ‘Red Alert’.
John is also said to have been the link between the Ginger Media Group and Lulu, who he helped persuade to present ‘Red Alert’ on BBC1.
Guests on the final show, which takes place on December 22 are still to be confirmed, although there is strong speculation the Pet Shop Boys will be making a live appearance to perform a new, festive track.
A spokesperson for the Pet Shop Boys told NME.COM that the band were yet to confirm the appearance, but have been approached and are “considering” doing “something special” for the show. Another rumoured guest on the final show is teen pop icon Britney Spears.
Chris Evans has not been presenting the final run of shows, instead there has been a run of celebrity presenters, including the Spice Girls. Future presenters include cast members from the TV show ‘Big Brother’ and DJ Sara Cox.
