The Winter Wonderland will raise cash for homeless charity Shelter...

Embrace and Kasabian are amongst the artists confirmed for a Christmas gig supporting homeless charity SHELTER.

XFM’s Winter Wonderland takes place at the London Hammersmith Apollo on December 5 and also sees performances from The Zutons and The Departure.

Opening the night will be the winners of the Christian O’Connell School Of Rock competition, which culminates a month-long search for the best school rock band in the country.

The event will be hosted by XFM DJ’s such as Christian O’Connell and Lauren Laverne, and will be broadcast live on the station.

Director of Shelter, Adam Sampson, said: “Over a million children throughout Britain will be waking up this Christmas in housing that most of us would struggle to call home. The grim reality of overcrowded or unfit housing, run down estates or emergency accommodation is that it wrecks people’s lives and that’s why we are hugely grateful to XFM for putting on XFM’s Winter Wonderland to help us campaign to end bad housing for the next generation of children.

Last year’s event, the XFM Winter Warmer, raised thousands of pounds for Shelter.
