'Our Version Of Events' has spent 63 weeks in the Top 10
Emeli Sande has beaten The Beatles UK chart record for the most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 for any album.
The Scottish singer’s debut album, ‘Our Version Of Events’, has never dropped outside the Official UK Album Chart Top 10 since its release in February last year (2012) – a staggering 63 weeks in total. She overtakes The Beatles who remained in the Top 10 for 62 weeks with ‘Please Please Me’ between 1963 and 1964, reports the Official Charts Company.
Speaking about the achievement, Emeli Sandé said: “I’m completely lost for words and this is something I could only have dreamed of. The Beatles are the greatest band of all time and their legacy lives on and continues to inspire all of us that make music. I’m so happy that so many people have connected with the stories and the songs on the record, this really is our version of events now.”
‘Our Version Of Events’, which is currently at Number Five in the Official Album Chart, has sold over 1.82million copies in the UK and has spent 10 weeks in total at Number One. The record was the biggest-selling record of 2012, and is currently on course to emulate that success again this year.
Meanwhile, Emeli Sandé has been nominated for the 2013 Scottish Album Of The Year Award alongside Django Django, PAWS, Calvin Harris and Admiral Fallow. The winner will be announced on June 20 at Barrowlands Ballroom in Glasgow .
