Eminem scores sixth UK Number One album with ‘Recovery’

Katy Perry goes straight to the singles chart summit

Eminem went straight to the top of the UK albums chart with ‘Recovery’ tonight (June 27).

The rapper, who has now clocked up six UK Number One albums, also scored success in the singles chart, with two tracks in the Top 10, according to the Official Charts Company.

‘I Love The Way You Lie’, his collaboration with Rihanna, went in at Number Seven, while ‘Not Afraid’ went up to Number Five.

Eminem originally planned to release an album titled ‘Relapse 2’ as a follow-up to 2009’s chart-topping ‘Relapse’, but eventually decided to make a “completely new album”.

“The music on ‘Recovery’ came out very different from ‘Relapse’ and I think it deserves its own title,” he explained.

Other new albums chart entries included Example‘s ‘Won’t Go Quietly’ at Number Four and Miley Cyrus‘s ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ at Number Eight.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry went straight to Number One in the official singles chart with ‘California Gurls’, her first chart-topper since ‘I Kissed A Girl’ in 2008.
