Eminem and Gwen Stefani have revealed new collaboration ‘Kings Never Die’.
The song appears on the soundtrack to new film Southpaw. Eminem has overseen the film’s soundtrack and the song sees the rapper talk about his immortality in his lyrics. “It’d actually have to be a fuckin’ blowout to get me to retire / Tell these new artists that kings never die”
Eminem was originally set to star in the aforementioned film when it was announced in December 2010, but later postponed the project and eventually dropped out entirely. He was replaced by Jake Gyllenhaal.
Rita Ora has a small role as a dishevelled drug addict and prostitute in the forthcoming boxing drama, in which Gyllenhaal stars as a retired fighter who launches a comeback following the death of his wife. The film’s impressive cast also includes Forest Whitaker, Naomie Harris and Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson.
Other artists who appear on the Southpaw soundtrack include 50 Cent, Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$, and The Weeknd.
Eminem recently revealed the video for ‘Phenomenal’, another song from the Southpaw OST, via Apple Music. In the video he develops super powers after waking up in hospital.
The video proceeds to show Eminem hunted across Tokyo as he rides a flaming motorbike and a helicopter in a bid to get to the gig. He eventually makes the show, landing on stage with Dr Dre.
Eminem recently starred alongside Dr Dre and 50 Cent in a feature-length documentary on the Shady Records label.
Eminem released his latest album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ in 2013.
