MC YOU IN THE NEW YEAR, SLIM!

NME.COM brings you the lowdown on what to expect when Slim Shady hits town...

Eminem will definitely perform in the UK just after Christmas, NME.COM can confirm.

The rapper, currently on the Anger Management Tour of the US and Canada with Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach and Xzhibit, will play a series of arena shows with his new band D12 during January or February 2001.

BBC Radio One broadcaster and hip-hop authority Tim Westwood revealed yesterday (October 24) that Eminem had settled on the six-piece rap outfit as his touring band describing them as “six MCs out of his home town”, adding, “The thing with them is that they are called D12 because they’ve each got split personalities. Like, Eminem is called Eminem and Slim Shady, so the six of them make up twelve because there’s twelve personalities.”

It will come as welcome news to the star’s legions of fans left disappointed when legal problems forced the cancellation of his appearance at the late August Reading/Leeds Carling Weekender.

However, while a source close to Eminem could not confirm exact dates or venues for the shows, he made it clear that the star would be playing solo shows without any of the major names in hip-hop and rap-rock he has toured the US with this year.

A formal announcement is expected within days.
