Song is taken from soundtrack to new film 'Southpaw'
Eminem has revealed new song ‘Phenomenal’, taken from the soundtrack to new boxing film Southpaw.
Originally Eminem was attached to star in the film when it was first announced in December 2010 but later postponed the project and eventually dropped out entirely. He was replaced by Jake Gyllenhaal.
The DJ Khalil produced song sees Eminem in form, rapping: “Let me self-empower you/ When you’re down and they’re tryna clown the fuck out of you/ When you feel like you’re running out of fuel/ I’ll show you how to use doubter’s fuel”.
Rita Ora has a small role as a dishevelled drug addict and prostitute in the forthcoming boxing drama, in which Gyllenhaal stars as a retired fighter who launches a comeback following the death of his wife. The film’s impressive cast also includes Forest Whitaker, Naomie Harris and Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson.
Eminem recently starred alongside Dr Dre and 50 Cent in a feature-length documentary on the Shady Records label.
