EMINEM’s decision to rush-release his new album ‘ENCORE’ has paid off according to early figures.
The rapper’s new collection hit the shops last Friday (November 12) after the entire album leaked online. With only two days’ sales, experts wondered whether Eminem still had the pulling power to reach Number One.
However, according to Reuters, it topped the chart with ease, registering the fourth biggest US launch of the year. According to figures released by Nielsem SoundScan, it shifted 700,000 copies in the week ending November 14.
Only Usher’s ‘Confessions’ (1.1million), Norah Jones’ ‘Feels Like Home’ (1 million) and Tim McGraw’s ‘Live Like You Were Dying’ (766,000) reported bigger openings.
‘Encore’ also hit Number One in the UK, selling 122,500 copies in just two days.
