UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP, whose acts include EMINEM , U2 and GARBAGE, has announced its plans to implement production of copy-protected CDs.

As reported two days ago on NME.COM (September 24), Epic copyrighted promotional copies of Michael Jackson‘s new single, ‘You Rock My World’, but had no plans to press the commercial release in this manner.

Universal, however, intend to use copyrighted CDs on all releases by the end of the year. Vivendi Universal chairman Edgar Bronfman claimed that the new CDs would still be playable in computers’ CD drives.
