The pair are set to be united at the Grammys...

EMINEM will be joined by ELTON JOHN for a show-stopping performance of ‘STAN’ at this year’s GRAMMY AWARDS.

In a statement released on Saturday (February 10), the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) confirmed that openly bisexual Elton John would take the chorus of ‘Stan’, as usually performed by Dido, at the February 21 event.

“We view this moment not only as musically significant, but also as an opportunity to help tear down some of the unfortunate walls of division that Eminem’s lyrics have built,” NARAS president and CEO Michael Greene said in a statement.

The news is sure to cloud charges of homophobia levelled by some gay and lesbian groups at Eminem.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), frequently vocal in their condemnation of Eminem, had said shortly before NARAS’ announcement: “GLAAD is deeply offended that [NARAS] is yielding its Grammy Awards stage to Eminem. While we recognise that the Academy has restricted Eminem’s performance to the song ‘Stan’, that song – while less homophobic than much of his material – still contains misogyny and images of violence and murder.”

Eminem is nominated for four Grammy Awards including Best Album for ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’.
