...And duets with Sir Elton John on

EMINEM picked up three gongs at this year’s GRAMMY AWARDS – the USA’s

biggest music award ceremony – despite picketing from around 200 gay and women’s rights

protesters outside the LOS ANGELES venue.

He picked up awards for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Solo Performance (for ‘The Real Slim

Shady’), Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group (for ‘Forgot About Dre’ with Dr Dre)

He received a standing ovation for his duet with gay superstar Sir

Elton John. The pair embraced after their performance of the song ‘Stan’ where Sir Elton John

performed Dido’s part from the UK Number One single. According to today’s Sun newspaper they are set to repeat the duet at next week’s Brit Awards.

Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With

A Vocal – all for the single ‘Beautiful Day’.

The Grammy Awards had made a deliberate attempt to be more relevant

this year, after past criticism that it was out of touch. Despite the controversy

caused by the awards for Eminem, the judges failed to completely

throw off their reputation, with awards for veteran jazz rock noodlers Steely Dan

for Album Of The Year, Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal (‘Cousin Dupree’)

and Best Pop Vocal Album.
