Empire Of The Sun have ‘not spoken since February’

Singer Luck Steele reveals he's not seen his bandmate since the Brit Awards

Empire Of The Sun‘s Luck Steele and Nick Littlemore haven’t spoken since February.

In an interview with BBC Newbeat, Luke Steele revealed that the last time he spoke or saw his bandmate was at the Brit Awards.

Nick [Littlemore] doesn’t play in the live show,” the singer said. “He doesn’t play in anything. I saw him at the Brit Awards and that was like a bit of a reunion.”

Steele, who is set to make his live UK debut with the band later this month at Glastonbury, also admitted that being on tour on his own has been hard.

“The first month was pretty emotionally challenging,” he explained. “Because you’re there going, ‘What do you mean you don’t want to be on the road?'”

He added: “It’s kind of like a master chef serving up this new dish they’ve cooked called The Dream and then some kid coming off the street with a machete and shoving it into this steak, picking it up and just laughing watching the blood drip out of it.”

Despite recently confirming a tour of the US and appearances at this year’s T In The Park, Oxegen and Lovebox festivals, the singer isn’t put off by the lack of input from Littlemore.

He said: “Once it [the tour] starts it becomes the norm. You’ve got to keep the show on the road. This is rock ‘n’ roll.”
