They're backing the boys.
Punk supergroup The Tallywags have unveiled ‘Charge Of The Light Brigade’, an unofficial World Cup anthem to help England on the path to inevitable World Cup f̶a̶i̶l̶u̶r̶e̶ glory.
The single is the first release from the group, which boasts an illustrious line-up of former Sex Pistols and Professionals drummer Paul Cook, Tom Spencer from The Professionals and The Men They Couldn’t Hang and Chris McCormack from The Professionals and Three Colours Red.
The line-up is completed by Toy Dolls singer Olga and Wildhearts bassist Danny McCormack.
Although success is all but guaranteed for Gareth Southgate’s men in Russia, the punk track offers a message of hope – urging them to correct the mistakes of past England teams, while also encouraging the whole nation to back the team.
It’s also accompanied by a video that sees the band belting out the track on an astro turf pitch, along with cameos from two men who may or may not be Diego Maradona and Paul Gascoigne.
The group’s efforts to pin their colours to the mast comes after the FA confirmed that England will be heading to this summer’s tournament in Russia without the support of an official single.
Noel Gallagher also recently revealed who he is backing to win the World Cup, but it’s not necessarily what England fans would want to hear.
