Rolo Tomassi, We Are The Ocean, Hyro Da Hero also feature on 'Love Music, Hate Violence' compilation
Enter Shikari, Young Guns and Charlie Simpson are among the artists who will feature on a new compilation to raise funds to help independent record labels affected by the fire which destroyed the Sony DADC warehouse.
The compilation, which is being released by the newly set-up Love Music, Hate Violence, will also feature tracks from Let’s Wrestle, Hyro Da Hero, We Are The Ocean, Rolo Tomassi, Tellison, Title Fight, The Xcerts, Sharks and a number of other acts.
The compilation, which will only be available in digital form, will be released on November 5, with a full tracklisting and artwork to be confirmed in the coming weeks. There will also be official merchandise created to go along with the compilation’s release.
Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds said of his band’s reasons for being involved in the compilation:
A lot of the UK’s indie labels – including our own Ambush Reality label – had a majority of their stock there, and now it’s all gone up in flames. While the insurance will, in time, cover some of the losses, there’ll be labels who rely on constant cashflow and might not be able to struggle through until their losses are covered. Times are hard enough for indie labels and indie shops right now, this is another sad kick in the teeth for people who put their entire lives into keeping our musical landscape exciting with minimal budgets, who can ill afford this sort of setback.
Young Guns frontman Gustav Wood also spoke of his outfit’s involvement, saying:
We’ve always considered ourselves lucky to be involved with a label as straight up and genuine in their love of music as PIAS is. To see them and the other independents affected by the riots so severely was awful. Companies like PIAS are, in the midst of a confused and increasingly fractured industry, flying the flag for how things should and can be done. We’re happy to be involved in some small way.
