Erykah Badu apologises for Iggy Azalea diss ‘because my kids listen to her all the time’ – watch

Badu appeared to insult Azalea at the Soul Train Awards in November

Erykah Badu has issued an apology over remarks she recently made about Iggy Azalea.

Badu appeared to insult the rapper while hosting the Soul Train Awards last month (November 29). During her opening monologue, Badu pretended to answer her phone and said: “Who is this? Oh Iggy Azalea, hey! No, no, no, no, you can come ‘cos what you do definitely is not rap.”

Azalea later took to Twitter to brush off the comments. She wrote: “We are days from 2016, but I came online today and saw it’s still cool to try and discredit my 2014 accomplishments. LOL, fucking hell.”

Now Badu has posted a video in which she delivered a tongue-in-cheek apology to Azalea “for my daughter” because the Australian rapper is “one of their favourite artists”.

Badu says in the clip: “You know what, I wanna do this for my daughters, I wanna apologise to Iggy Azalea because she’s one of their favourite artists, and they listen to her all the time. It’s for them.”

She adds: “But when I really think about it, if y’all love her so much, why don’t you be with her then? Go on, be with her y’all. Go on Puma, go on Mars. Is she going to go up to the school and let them tell her that all you’ve been doing is talking to your neighbour and not getting on with your lesson? Is she?”

Meanwhile, Azalea has also updated fans about her next album, stating that she’s “ready” and that it is all “finished… except for getting the features recorded.”

The rapper also said that she is “trying to restructure some things to work smoother and better for me”, which will “take a few weeks”.
