Erykah Badu insulted rapper Iggy Azalea while hosting the Soul Train Awards on Sunday night (November 29).

The annual US awards ceremony marks the best in R&B and soul music, with The Weeknd and Bruno Mars among the artists picking up awards on the night.

Badu hosted the awards at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, making reference to Azalea during her opening monologue.

Pretending to answer her phone, Badu said: “Who is this? Oh Iggy Azalea, hey! No, no, no, no, you can come ’cause what you do definitely is not rap”.

Badu recently released her new mixtape, ‘But You Caint Use My Phone’. The mixtape is follow-up to 2010’s ‘New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh’ and is an iTunes/Apple Music exclusive. It will be available via other digital services on December 4.

The title of the mixtape is a reference to the last line on Badu’s 1997 track ‘Tyrone’ and each song references telephones in some way and “our own reliance on staying inter-connected.”

The mixtape also includes a remix of Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ titled ‘Cell U Lar Device’. Last year, Drake referenced going to Badu’s house in ‘Days In The East’, in the lines, “She made tea for me, we talked about love and what life could really be for me, she said, “when that shit is real, you just know“‘.

But You Caint Use My Phone’ tracklist:

‘Caint Use My Phone Suite’
‘Cell U Lar Device’
‘Phone Down’
‘U Use To Call Me’
‘Mr. Telephone Man’
‘U Don’t Have To Call’
‘Whats Yo Phone Number’
‘I’ll Call U Back’
