All three are added to Australia's flagship festival...

SILVERCHAIR, FAITHLESS and JURASSIC 5 are amongst the second set of bands announced for next year’s BIG DAY OUT festival in AUSTRALIA.

As previously revealed on NME.COM, next year’s event is confirmed to take place from the end of January in Auckland (January 18), the Gold Coast (20), Sydney (26), Melbourne (28), Adelaide (February 1) and Perth (3).

The three groups will join the previously announced acts The Prodigy, Garbage and New Order

Other new additions today include Amen, John Butler Trio, and a host of other Australian groups.

Festival organisers have announced major changes to the way the event is run following the death of a teenager last year, including the introduction of a “recommended minimum age” of 15 to enter the show.

15-year-old Jessica Michalik died following a crowd crush at the Sydney Big Day Out earlier this year (January 26).

Following her death, Big Day Out organisers conducted a survey on their official website, www.bigdayout.com, which has led to 12 changes that will be used at next year’s event.

Improvements include more security in the crowd, more “rigidly controlled” crowd surfing at the festival, and a “recommended minimum age to be 15 years old unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.”

Fans at the event will also receive a free “Big Day Out pack” which will contain a refillable bottle of water, program and safety information.
