Fans injured as stampede breaks out at vigil for Nipsey Hussle

The incident occurred at a vigil in Los Angeles.

Fans of Nipsey Hussle were injured last night after a vigil at the scene of his shooting took a chaotic turn.

The 33-year-old rapper died on Sunday afternoon after he was shot multiple times while outside his clothing store in South Los Angeles.

As fans gathered at the scene on Monday evening, a vigil descended into chaos after a stampede broke out when mourners tried to flee the scene.

Eyewitnesses and police officials initially claimed they received reports of shots fired, but the LAPD later called the reports “inaccurate.”

Footage from the scene shows a crowd desperately attempting to run away amid the chaotic scenes. Speaking to the Associated Press, Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart confirmed that 19 people had been taken to hospital, with two in a critical condition and two in serious condition. One of the patients in critical condition was reportedly hit by a car.

According to USA Today, at least one person was stabbed too.

The vigil came hours before police confirmed they have identified a suspect in connection with the rapper’s death.
“Detectives have worked tirelessly and are now asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in this case,” they said.

“The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Eric Holder of Los Angeles.”
