Fat White Family’s Lias Saoudi says the band will continue despite founding member’s departure

Saul Adamczewski will return for a final show at the group's Brixton Academy gig next month

Fat White Family will continue despite their guitarist having left the band.

Frontman Lias Saoudi has spoken about the group’s future as they prepare for the biggest headline show yet, which takes place at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on September 17.

Speaking on Beats 1, Saoudi confirmed guitarist Saul Adamczewski had left the band. “He’ll be playing the Brixton show,” he said. “At the moment he’s out of the picture for personal reasons and he’s going to be making a comeback for that show. The future will be whatever it will be.”

He continued: “I’d like to continue regardless. Me and my brother are still writing all the time and [we’ll] just get on with it, job as usual.”

Saoudi also said he thinks Adamczewski is better suited to working in the studio rather than being in a touring band. “I think going on the road drove him a little bit crazy. He belongs in a room with instruments and a guy that hits record. That’s when he’s at his best.”

The singer didn’t rule out the possibility of the pair reuniting in the future, saying his departure was on good terms. “We’re not at each other’s throats or anything like that,” he said. “It was a very turbulent time and there was a huge amount of pressure on both of us and it took a bit of a toll on our relationship.

“But we’re still friends and I can envisage us working on things together in the future. I’m not ruling that one out and it’s no kind of diabolical split. It’s just time, pressure and fulfilling your obligations, and there’s too many of those.”

Fat White Family shared a new song, ‘Breaking Into Aldi’, earlier today (August 15), which you can listen to above. Saoudi also premiered another new track ‘Connan Moccasin’ on Beats 1 this evening.
