The south London band confirm that next gig will go ahead after $20k's worth of gear stolen

Fat White Family had musical equipment worth “$20k or more” (£13,000) stolen in San Francisco last night (May 18) after thieves broke into their van.

Writing on Facebook, the south London band said that thieves broke into the Fat White Family and LA Drugz’ van outside a Travelodge, before asking fans to check pawn shops for the stolen gear. It was the last night of the band’s US tour.

Responding to a comment on the post, the band confirmed that this weekend’s show at Liverpool Sound City would go ahead.

Meanwhile, the band recently made their debut US TV performance on The Late Show with David Letterman. Scroll down to watch their performance of ‘Is It Raining In Your Mouth?’ now.

The band appeared on the NBC chat show on Thursday (April 2) night alongside celebrity guests. ‘Is It Raining In Your Mouth?’ appears on the band’s album ‘Champagne Holocaust’. A censored version of the album artwork was displayed by Letterman prior to the band’s performance.

Fat White Family are currently in the process of recording the follow up to ‘Champagne Holocaust’ and have been using John Lennon’s old Beatles equipment while working on the record at his son Sean’s recording studio in New York City.

The south London band’s new album is being co-produced by Lennon after the band met him at a performance at SXSW in 2014. Work on the record has been taking place at Lennon’s state-of-the-art studio in a remote upstate mansion owned by Yoko Ono.
