A verdict of accidental death has been recorded in the inquest into the death of a nurse who suffered fatal head injuries after falling following FATBOY SLIM‘s mammoth beach party in BRIGHTON in July.
Karen Manders, a 26-year-old Australian, had taken a cocktail of drink and drugs before her critical accident.
She fell from a wall on the Lower Promenade during the early hours of July 14 after having spent the day amongst 250,000 other revellers at the superstar DJ’s free beach bash. She died at Brighton’s Royal Sussex County Hospital on July 16.
The inquest heard how Miss Manders was seen waving her arms seconds before she toppled 20 feet from the Promenade.
Pathologist Dr Neera Patel told the inquest the nurse had drunk enough to put her twice over the drink-drive limit and had also taken MDMA, or ecstasy.
She said: “It is likely that she would have been disorientated, in terms of not knowing who she was or where she was. It could have made her agitated. In my opinion, this level of MDMA, together with the alcohol would have affected her behaviour.”
