Norman 'Fatboy Slim' Cook has sampled The Doors on his forthcoming album...

Fatboy Slim a.k.a. Norman Cook has recorded a track using the late JIM MORRISON as vocalist, can reveal.

The song will appear on the forthcoming follow-up to 1998’s breakthrough album ‘You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby’.

However, the superstar DJ/producer was reluctant to discuss exactly which Doors song he has used, fearing “if someone else hears about it, they might like to use it themselves”.

He also revealed that the as-yet-untitled album, which also features the vocal talents of Macy Gray and Bootsy Collins, was unlikely to appear before the end of this year.

“There was a delivery date for completion of mid-August, which would have meant a release sometime in October or November. But that’s just not going to happen.” He added: “Don’t hold your breath. It’ll be sometime early next year.”

Cook was speaking prior to his headline appearance at the Essential Festival in Brighton on Saturday (July 15). Although he was excited about taking to the stage of the Big Beat Boutique tent for a high-profile hometown show, he said he was unable to remain to watch James Brown and others on Sunday.

“I have to dash off to my in-laws’ silver wedding anniversary,” he said. “Johnny Ball has been married 25 years.”

When asked what it was like having the popular ex-children’s television presenter as a father-in-law, he said, simply, “Weird.” He added: “About as weird as being married to Zoe Ball.”

You can see the exclusive video interview with Fatboy Slim on later this week.
