Fatboy Slim to headline Friday night at Bestival

The final headline act for the 10th anniversary of the event has been revealed

Fatboy Slim has been revealed as the final headliner at this year’s Bestival.

The DJ will play on the Friday night of the festival, joining previously announced bill toppers Snoop Dogg (Saturday) and Elton John (Sunday). The festival takes place between September 5-8 at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle Of Wight.

Fatboy Slim headlined the very first Bestival in 2004 and his set this year will serve as a 10th anniversary celebration. Fatboy Slim’s Bestival Birthday Bash will see a number of special surprises. Of his set, the DJ has said:

It was at Glastonbury 2003 where I closed the Sunday Best stage for Rob da Bank that I first saw the glint in his eye to create his own festival. Twelve months later I was headlining Bestival and, 10 years on, here I am again, throwing them the biggest birthday bash possible and sharing the main stage alongside Elton John and Snoop Dogg. It’s an absolute honour to return for this momentous occasion – staying creative and independent in these times.

Other confirmed acts for the weekend include a UK festival exclusive from MIA, as well as sets from Bombay Bicycle Club, Franz Ferdinand, Merchandise, Peace, The Flaming Lips, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Johnny Marr, The Knife, Tom Odell, Jessie Ware and Angel Haze. For more information including tickets, see Bestival.net. James Blake, Savages and The Child Of Lov were also recently added to the line-up.

Speaking about Fatboy Slim’s set, organiser Rob Da Bank says: “We wanted to have a big moment for all our amazing crew and the beautiful Bestivalites whether they’ve been with us for the last decade or even just this year so we went back to one of our headliners from the first year and someone who’s supported us since our early days in clubland. Yes ladies and gents, boys and girls roll up roll up for what will be the biggest spectacle in UK festival land as we unveil Fatboy Slim’s Bestival Birthday Bash.”
