Fatboy Slim: ‘Daft Punk have given us all a kick up the arse’

Superstar DJ hails the 'Get Lucky' hitmakers

Fatboy Slim has praised Daft Punk, saying they have given electronic artists a “kick up the arse”.

He%20told%20the%20Daily Star: “I’m so impressed by them. It’s a breath of fresh old school air. The EDM thing has become a collection of huge noises that sound the same and are a bit bland. I’m glad Daft Punk have given us all a kick up the arse. They are so simple and melodic. They’re the last great dance music supergroup you’ll hear.”

Fatboy Slim, real name Norman Cook, also added that he is so impressed by Daft Punk‘s new record that it has put him off making a new album himself.

Last week, it was revealed that Daft Punk’s new single ‘Get Lucky’, which features Pharrell Williams on vocals, had broken Spotify records by becoming the most streamed song in a 24-hour period in the UK and US. ‘Random Access Memories’, which also features cameos from Julian Casablancas, Todd Edwards, Panda Bear, Chilly Gonzales and Nile Rodgers, is released on May 20.
