Norman Cook tells NME.COM that the promo for 'Ya Mama' will launch a whole new dance craze...
Here’s an exclusive preview shot of FATBOY SLIM‘s new video to ‘YA MAMA’, which is not set for release until September.
Traktor, who have made adverts for MTV, Levi’s and Nike, chose the track as their first music video. It features a hillbilly character who’s sent a tape of ‘Ya Mama’ and then loses control of his limbs when the music comes on. As shown here, he adopts the famous Fatboy Slim pose at the end of the video.
‘Ya Mama’ is due to have its world premiere on Brighton Beach on July 6 when Fatboy Slim plays a free gig for 20,000 people.
Speaking exclusively to NME.COM, Fatboy, aka Norman Cook, said: “I think the video was made in Grenada. The original script was just people fighting every time the record came on, everyone just started punching each other gratuitously. But I think it’s a better gag and it’s going to launch a whole new dance craze, that’s my prediction. It’s a bit like moshing.”
