Distillers will follow last weekend’s riotous appearance at DOWNLOAD with a surprise gig at the CARLING WEEKEND: READING AND LEEDS FESTIVALS, NME.COM can reveal.

Brody Dalle’s punk warriors play Reading (August 27) and Leeds (28) between Hives and Jurassic 5, and are the secret band who have so far been billed as ‘Special Guests’.

Meanwhile, Modest Mouse are a new addition to the Radio 1 Stage in Reading on Friday and Leeds on Saturday.

NME.COM can also reveal full details of the Carling New Bands tent. It sees Kasabian co-headline with The Shins at Reading on Friday and Leeds on Saturday. Ex-Queens Of The Stone Age boys Mark Lanegan and Mondo Generator (featuring Nick Oliveri) co-headline at Reading on Saturday and Leeds on Sunday. Finally, The Kills headline Reading on Sunday and Leeds on Friday.

Also playing across the weekend are The 45s, Agent Blue, Amplifier, Autolux, Danko Jones, The Departure, Dios, Do Me Bad Things, The Duke Spirit, The Features, The Golden Virgins, The Glitterati, Infrasound, Kaiser Chiefs, The Living Things, McClusky, My Red Cell, Pink Grease, Riff Random, Roxy Saint, Terra Diablo, TV On The Radio and YourCodenameis:Milo.
