MORRISSEY stunned his fans at the READING leg of the CARLING WEEKEND tonight (August 27) by playing an ultra-rare version of the SMITHS classic ’HOW SOON IS NOW?’.

The star opened his set with the track, before going on to play a host of classics from his back catalogue as well as a chuck of songs from new album ’You Are The Quarry’.

The Mozfather’s set included The Smiths’ ’Shoplifters Of The World Unite’ and ’There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’, solo classics ’November Spawned A Monster’ and ’Everyday Is Like Sunday’ as well as recent hits ’Irish Blood, English Heart’ and ’First Of The Gang To Die’.

Morrissey reminisced about recording his recent album near Reading, and bemoaned getting a parking ticket in Caversham, saying “Caversham, this next song’s not for you”, before going into ‘There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’

The Moz moves on to Leeds tomorrow (August 29).
