DRY YOUR SKIES

'Dry Your Eyes' becomes the weekend's first anthem...

THE STREETS brought back the sunshine at the CARLING WEEKEND LEEDS FESTIVAL this afternoon (August 27) with an impromptu sundance, during a set that, though cut short by technical problems, united the festival crowd.

A tanned Mike Skinner arrived on the Main Stage 20 minutes later than expected with compere Colin Murray baying the huge crowd with rock classics.

Beginning from offstage, Skinner bounced through material from ‘Original Pirate Material’ and Number One album ‘A Grand Don’t Come For Free’ including ‘Don’t Mug Yourself’.

As clouds gathered above the main stage, Skinner tried to restore the sunshine by performing a freestyle sundance rap during interludes between songs.

Biggest cheer of the set went to the Number One single ‘Dry Your Eyes’, while ‘Fit But You Know It’ prompted Skinner to ask the audience if they were “sure they knew the words yet”.

The band were followed on the Main Stage by Welsh metallers Lostprophets.
