The band join forces with Bloc Party, Towers Of London and Maximo Park…
THE RAKES were joined a host of special guests during their appearance at the CARLING WEEKEND: READING FESTIVAL today (August 28).
Performing on the NME/Radio 1 Stage without singer Alan Donohoe – who is at home suffering from illness – the band teamed up with a trio of groups to help out.
Bloc Party’s Russell Lissack lent his vocals to ’Terror’ and joined Maximo Park’s Paul Smith for ’Strasbourg’.
In a chaotic version of ’22 Grand Job’, The Rakes were flanked by Lissack and fellow Bloc Party member Gordon Moakes, Smith and Towers Of London’s Donny and Dirk Tourette.
Rakes guitarist Matthew Swinnerton took on the vocal duties for the rest of the tracks.
The gig followed on from the band’s performance at the Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival on Friday (August 26) which also saw a guest appearance from Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke.
Today’s set ran:
‘Work, Work, Work (Pub, Club, Sleep)
‘Just Got Paid’
’22 Grand Job’
Bloc Party will make another appearance on the NME/Radio 1 Stage later tonight as headliners.
