There's a huge crowd to see the Mercury Music Prize nominated act on The Carling Stage...
THE GO! TEAM celebrated their recent MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE nomination by headlining the READING leg of the CARLING WEEKEND tonight (August 27) in sensational style.
The dance outfit drew a huge crowd to the Carling Stage, in spite of serious competition from the likes of Foo Fighters and The Tears. And the fans were not left disappointed as they heard a set drawn mainly from the acclaimed ’Thunder, Lightning, Strike’ album.
Highlights included a rapturously-received ’Junior Kickstart’, and forthcoming single ’Bottle Rocket’.
Team leader Ian Parton said of the Mercury nomination: “I’m not an award ceremonies kinda fella but to get acknowledgement for something which was recorded in a DIY styley and put out without a big fuss and a big budget feels pretty good.”
He added: “I am kinda in the Woody Allen school of thought with winning awards – how can you possibly measure something as personal as music and come out with one victor? But again, it’s amazing to be nominated and it should be a pretty funny day.”
