But the band tell NME.COM they were nearly forced to cancel their appearance…
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE announced tonight that “READING is the motherfuckin’ shit” (August 26).
Speaking during their Main Stage set at the Carling Weekend: Reading Festival, singer Josh Homme praised the festival before launching into ’First It Giveth’.
However, Homme underwent knee surgery earlier this month which threatened their appearance at the event.
He told NME.COM that the injury almost meant QOTSA pulling out all together.
”My knee’s fucked up and I keep pretending that it isn’t so it keeps getting more fucked up but that’s rock and roll right?” Homme said. “I was told to pull Reading but I wasn’t going to do that. It takes more than me to cancel me.”
QOTSA played an adrenaline fuelled set at Richfield Avenue this evening, drawing on songs from their latest album ’Lullabies To Paralyze’ as well as ’Regular John’ from their first self-titled LP and the Desert Sessions track ’Covered In Punk’s Blood’.
Tonight’s setlist for QOTSA ran:
‘Go With The Flow’
‘Feelgood Hit Of The Summer’
‘The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret’
‘First It Giveth’
‘Covered In Punk’s Blood’
‘In My Head’
‘The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died’
‘Burn The Witch’
‘The Long Slow Goodbye’
‘Someone’s In The Wolf’
‘No One Knows’
Tonight on the Main Stage will see a headlining performance from Pixies.
