Organisers reveal their plans for 2006...
BENICASSIM FESTIVAL organisers revealed today (August 7) that the festival will take place in July next year.
The mayor of Benicassim said the reason was to keep the bash away from the Spanish holidays in August.
The festival is in its eleventh year, and normally takes place at the beginning of August.
The date for next year’s festival has yet to be officially confirmed, but the third weekend in July is looking likely at the moment.
More UK visitors are expected next year, as Glastonbury is taking a year off.
Organisers also said there had been a 17% increase in foreign ticket sales, and there had been an average crowd of 32,000 a day, an increase of 2004.
They also said they were delighted with the way things had gone, and said they were very pleased with the way the visitors to the festival had integrated into the local community.
NME.COM was in the town of Benicassim earlier, and saw thousands of Oasis fans in good-natured form on the beach ahead of their appearance tonight (August 7).
