Their headline set at the Carling Weekend features a cover of a GBV song...

THE STROKES were joined onstage by GUIDED BY VOICES at the LEEDS leg of the CARLING WEEKEND last night.

The New York group played the northern leg of the festival (August 24), while Guided By Voices, longtime friends of the band, performed earlier on the Evening Session Stage.

Towards the end of The Strokes headline slot, singer Julian Casablancas introduced GBV founder Robert Pollard to the stage. The group then covered the band’s ‘A Salty Salute’, originally recorded for their cult album ‘Alien Lanes’.

After the song, Casablancas told the crowd they should all go out and buy a GBV album.

After these shows, The Strokes plan to head out on an autumn tour of North America.
