ANDREW WK has written a whole album’s worth of new material, and is planning more live shows in the UK.

The former NME cover star has spent recent months almost permanently on tour in the US, playing his own headline shows, as well as dates on the high profile Ozzfest festival.

However, following his main stage appearance at the Carling Weekend Festival in Reading and Leeds (August 24-25), he is planning on returning to the UK for his own shows either in the autumn or at the start of next year.

A spokesperson for WK revealed that while on the road Andrew has written a host of new songs which are in contention for the follow-up to ‘I Get Wet’, which will be released in 2003.

She commented: “Since he was last here, he’s been working hard in America. The song ‘Party Hard’ has been used on a beer advert over there, and he’s been on Ozzfest. There’s also talk of an Andrew WK doll!”

When asked how well Andrew WK was being received in the US, she said the reactions are “complete love and hate wherever he goes”, much the same as in the UK.

There is currently no new Andrew WK single in the pipeline. However, a song, likely to be a reworking of ‘We Want Fun’ is set to appear on the new ‘Jackass’ compilation album, which is due for release on September 30.
