We're here as the Carling Weekend begins - and here's an update from the frontline...

NME.COM has arrived at READING – and the CARLING WEEKEND has kicked off in earnest.

And we’ll tell you the most important news first – it’s dry! Not the sunniest day ever, and a bit windy, but we’re all hoping The Polyphonic Spree, headlining the Radio 1 Evening Session Stage at Reading later today (August 22), will bring some sunshine with them. And other vital info – we got the train from London this morning with no problems.

Inme have just begun proceedings on the Main Stage, with Violent Delight providing the entertainment on the Radio 1 Evening Session Stage.

Fans are already queueing outside the NME Signing Tent for the appearance of Less Than Jake. Other bands due to pop in today include The Datsuns, Finch, Electric Six, The Polyphonic Spree, Interpol and Blink 182.
