The sun is out, as are the security guards...
NME.COM has arrived at GLASTONBURY amid the tightest security ever.
The weather is warm and sunny, and ticketholders who arrived early are enjoying the relaxed vibes of the first day of the event, which will see performances by Coldplay, Queens of The Stone Age and Garbage.
However, ticketless fans have little chance of getting in. NME.COM has inspected the ‘super-fence’, erected by organiser Michael Eavis to prevent fence jumpers, and it is almost impenetrable. Security guards are also patrolling the perimeter on bikes and CCTV are watching problem areas.
One fan told NME.COM: “We had our tickets checked on more than one occasion when we were trying to get into the site. There seems to be less people here than the same time in 2000. Maybe that’s because there aren’t many getting in for free.”
