Two lucky, plucky NME readers and their pals are spared the agony of missing out on Glasto 2003...

Ed Rice, 16 from London and Sarah Gilbert, 22 from Horsham had their Glastonbury dreams rescued in the nick of time, by NME. After trying and failing to get tickets through the usual channels, the pair struck lucky by winning NME’s Glastonbury competition.

Ed spent Friday morning watching his favourites The Jeevas, who are “criminally underrated by NME,” he told us before running off to see Electric Six. Sarah, meanwhile, who arrived with best friend Natalie White, was determined to make a proper job of REM’s headline show on the Pyramid stage on Friday. “I went to see them last time they played, in 1999,” she remembers, “but I can’t remember much about it. I’m going to make sure I remember it this time!”
