It's a cosmic performance...

SUPER FURRY ANIMALS made their first UK festival appearance of the summer tonight (July 9) at T IN THE PARK – and treated fans to a preview of new album ’LOVE KRAFT’.

The Welsh band, dressed in glo-in-the-dark spacesuits, headlined the X-Tent, and delighted a devoted crowd by playing new single ’Laser Beam’ and album opener ’Zoom!’.

There was plenty room for old favourites though – among the classics rolled out were ’Hello Sunshine’, ’Something 4 The Weekend’ and perennial set closer ’The Man Don’t Give A Fuck’.

The set was:

’Slow Life’

’(Drawing) Rings Around The World’

’Hello Sunshine’

’Run Christian Run!’

’Fire In My Heart’

’Juxtapozed With U’

’Laser Beam’

’Something 4 The Weekend’

’Do Or Die’

’Ice Hockey Hair’

’The Man Don’t Give A Fuck’

Speaking to NME.COM earlier, frontman Gruff Rhys told NME.COM: “We were looking at what tracks are singles because it’s a different crowd at festivals. We played seven new ones in London last night. They’re quite mellow as well.”

He went on to praise Scottish audiences, saying, “They’re like the Welsh and the Irish. They’re a bit more passionate, there’s a lot more drinking.”

The band also spoke about their decision to play a gig at Somerset House in central London on Friday (July 8), just a day after the bomb attacks in the city. Rhys commented: “Our friend nearly got on one of the trains. It’s mad. But our friends in London said we should play. Hopefully we lifted people a bit.”

’Love Kraft’ is released on August 22, with ’Laser Beam’ preceding it on August 8.
