JazzWorld and Dance acts announced…
The first winners of the GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL’s UNSIGNED BAND COMPETITION have been announced.
After finals held at the weekend (March 4 and 5) in Pilton, Somerset, the up-and-coming bands for the JazzWorld and Dance stages were selected.
JazzWorld was first on Friday (March 4), with Southern African jazz band Moya beating the five other bands who contested the final, while on the following day The Bellagios claimed the Dance slot.
“It has not been easy,” said Festival organiser Michael Eavis on judging the Dance final which also featured Twee, Luminous, The Fabrics, Genesis Elijah and Chemical Dub Theory. “This was a fantastic night and hopefully we’ll find places for several of the acts who played tonight at the festival.”
Finals for the Acoustic and John Peel stages will take place in two weeks time, while tickets for the Festival, which is held between June 24 and 26, will go on sale on April 3.
