Fiona Apple reportedly stormed off stage while performing at a private gig in Tokyo last night (August 29).
According to Women’s Wear Daily, the singer became exasperated by the amount of noise from the audience during her short set at an event hosted by fashion brand Louis Vuitton.
Midway through her performance, Apple is said to have climbed to the top of her grand piano, where she attempted to hush the chattering crowd with the “ding!” of a small bell. When the noise continued, she reportedly told the audience to “shut the fuck up!” and uttered other expletives under her breath. She is then said to have shouted “Predictable! Predictable fashion, what the fuck?” before storming off stage.
Apple’s behaviour was apparently eccentric elsewhere in her performance, too. At one point, she hit her head with her microphone, Women’s Wear Daily reports, and at another she performed a “back bend” over her piano bench.
Apple released her fourth studio album last year (2012), giving it the typically lengthy title ‘The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver Of The Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do’. She is set to embark on a 13-date US concert tour this October.
