A fire broke out in the showers at the Coachella campground in the early hours of Saturday morning (April 13), it has been reported.

Attendees at the Californian festival claimed to have heard “explosion” sounds on social media, as campers shared videos of the flames online.
The fire was attended to by the Riverside County Fire Department just after 2am. Writing on Twitter, they confirmed that a mobile shower unit was on fire. “Total two trailers involved,” they continued. “One damaged, one destroyed. No reported injuries to fire personnel or civilians. Fire crew will remain on scene for one hour for overhaul.”

Festival-goers had taken to social media to share their experiences of the fire. “I was waiting in line trying to shower at Coachella and it exploded and caught fire,” wrote one. Another added: “Showers at Coachella campground caught on fire… someone [was] in their towel running out.”

Coachella 2019 kicked off yesterday (April 12) with performances from the the likes of BLACKPINK, Kacey Musgraves, The 1975, Rosalía, King Princess, Tierra Whack, and a headline set from Childish Gambino.
Gambino and Rihanna’s collaborative film Guava Island will also be shown at Coachella today. The movie premiered for invited guests on the festival grounds on Thursday (April 11). It was released on Amazon Prime during Gambino’s set last night and will be free to watch until 18 hours after its release.
