First photo of Tekashi 6ix9ine in prison is released by his girlfriend

The rapper has been imprisoned since November 2018

The first photo of Tekashi 6ix9ine in prison has emerged, after his girlfriend posted a photo of the pair together.

The controversial ‘Gummo’ rapper is currently incarcerated in a US federal prison while he awaits trial for racketeering charges later this year. If found guilty, he faces a minimum sentence of 32 years and a maximum of life in prison. The charges reportedly arise from a five-year investigation into the Nine Trey Bloods street gang, of which 6ix9ine is allegedly a member.

Although he’s been imprisoned since November 2018, the first photo of the rapper behind bars has now emerged from his own girlfriend.

Posting on Instagram, she shared a candid photo that showed her kissing the rapper. She captioned the snap: “He’s good luv, enjoy”

The rapper’s incarceration in a federal prison comes after he was  moved from the Federal Prison of Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center amid fears for his security.

According to TMZ, he is now being housed in a federal facility known for holding “neutral inmates” who are often “witnesses who cooperate with the feds”. The rapper’s lawyer Lazzaro told TMZ that the transfer was made for “security reasons”.

In December 2018, a string of charges against Tekashi 6ix9ine for a previous child sex offence were also dropped, after he was expected to face re-sentencing.
