Ritchie Neville is fined in court in Dublin, but bandmate Jason Brown fails to appear in court...
FIVE member RITCHIE NEVILLE has pleaded guilty to charges of being drunk and disorderly and breaching the peace, following a bar brawl in DUBLIN last year.
As previously reported on NME.COM, Neville’s arrest followed an incident at the Palace Bar in Dublin last December, while his band were in the city to undertake promotional duties. Fellow band member Jason Brown is also charged with assault relating to the incident.
According to BBC news, Neville, who appeared in Dublin District Court today (March 26) under his real name Richard Dobson, pleaded guilty to the charges. He was ordered to pay a IR£3,000 fine to the court’s ‘poor box’.
Speaking outside the court, he said: “We have always had a great time when we have come over here and we have always been treated with respect and kindness. And thanks to our fans for sticking by us.”
Brown was also due to appear in court today, but missed his appearance because he was visiting his sick mother in the US.
Speaking of Brown’s absence, Judge Michael Conlon said: “The court is, funnily enough, not run for his benefit. At least he could have had the common courtesy to ring his solicitor when he went to America last Monday.”
Brown’s case has now been adjourned until October 10. Conlon added: “He will have to be here unless he has a very good reason.”
