But it's bad news for the Spice Girls...

FIVE have swept the board in the first ever NMEPOP.COM readers’ poll, scooping five top places including single of the year (for ‘WE WILL ROCK YOU’), album of the year and group of the year, beating the likes of BACKSTREET BOYS, BOYZONE and S CLUB 7.

After counting thousands of your votes, Steps and Robbie Williams also make strong showings, with Britney Spears coming top in both Fanciable Female Of The Year and Popstar Home Movie You’d Like To See.

One surprise result is Westlife scooping the Stool-Based Ballad Act Of The Year prize – a result that holds true after several recounts.

With some inevitability, there are disappointments for the Spice Girls. Their year has gone from bad to worse with disappointing sales of ‘Forever’ followed by a fan backlash, and now NMEPOP.COM readers have voted them Most Likely To Hit The Dumper In 2001.
