FKA Twigs is reportedly engaged to Twilight actor Robert Pattinson, who the musician has been dating since September 2014 – according to comments made by T Pain.
The rapper accidentally let the news slip in an interview with Vulture.
Discussing the guest stars who might feature on his new album, T Pain said: “FKA Twigs, she’s one of my favorite artists right now… the first time we even met each other, we met in the studio. Her music’s changed a lot since then. But she’s on tour so much, and anytime I call her, she’s in a different place.”
He added: “And she’s engaged now, so that’s about to be a whole other thing… to ol’ Patty [Robert Pattinson]. I don’t know if she wanted anybody to know that…”
T Pain later took to Twitter to claim that he had been joking, writing: “Added a little #AprilFools to my Vulture interview today. Check it out!!!!!” However, the interview itself was conducted before its April 1 publication date.
A source close to the pair also allegedly told People: “[Pattinson] wants to marry her. They are inseparable when they are together. They live at his house.”
FKA Twigs recently revealed she stood up to racist abuse from Pattinson supporters on Twitter because she hoped it would encourage her fans to do the same.
In an interview with Zane Lowe for Radio 1’s Stories last month (March 24), the 27-year-old singer said: “I didn’t want them to see me being bullied and not stand up for myself because ultimately I’m 10 times stronger than somebody hiding behind a weird name on Twitter.
“I wanted to show that I can stand up for myself so then hopefully another person will see that and want to stand up for themselves.”
Recalling the response she received from Pattinson’s fans, Twigs recalled: “I remember at the height when things were really bad for me. I remember lying in bed at three o’clock in the morning and it’s embarrassing but I was just reading through everything, reading every single comment.
“I just couldn’t believe the world was like that. I guess I’m quite naive for someone who’s come through the internet, I don’t engage with it that much. I just couldn’t believe people think like that or say things like that. It was morbidly fascinating.”
Last month, it was also revealed that FKA Twigs will appear on A$AP Rocky’s new album alongside Lykke Li.
