FKA Twigs says she doesn’t know when she’ll next release new music

Twigs says it can take three years for bands to perfect new songs

FKA Twigs has said she doesn’t know when she’ll next release new music.

Since the release of her EP ‘M3LL155X’ in 2015, Twigs has begun previewing new songs ‘Good To Love’ and ‘Radiant Me’ in concert.

But the singer has revealed she has no idea when she’ll release new music, and that those new songs might not be featured on future releases.

Twigs told Dazed And Confused: “I’ll release in my own time. I just like to let things grow. Me taking a few songs on the road? I don’t know if I’ll release them, it’s just a way of seeing which way it can grow It’s not part of any big masterplan.”

Twigs, whose debut album ‘LP1’ was nominated for the Mercury Prize, continued: “Back in the day, you’d take songs out on the road for two or three years and then release them. That’s how long it takes for the band to get perfect. That’s unusual nowadays, because everything is so instant and everyone can see things straight away on the internet. But I’m sure there are plenty of songs that have been sung by amazing artists in a smoky room full of people, and only the people in the room have heard them. I guess I’m still trying to operate like that, even though it goes viral.”

Twigs played her last scheduled show for 2016 last night at Symbiosis Gathering festival in California last night (September 25). Her last UK show was at Bestival in 2015.
