Her last solo material was released in 2016
FKA twigs has shared her comeback single ‘Cellophane’ – scroll down to listen to it below now.
The 31-year-old artist – real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett – released her debut album ‘LP1’ back in 2014. In a four-star review of the record, NME said: “This pervading sense of control and commitment to her art proves that Twigs is set on building the sound of the future all by herself.”
Following various collaborations in the intervening years, along with her 2015 EP ‘M3LL155X’, twigs appears to be preparing to share details of her second full-length album. Her last solo work came in the form of 2016’s stand-alone single, ‘Good to Love’.
Now, the star has shared a video for ‘Cellophane’. The track begins with twigs softly singing: “Didn’t I do it for ya?/Why don’t I do it for ya?” over minimal piano notes. The video sees the musician dancing around a pole before plummeting through the sky. Watch it below now.
Earlier this week (April 22), the singer took to Twitter to post an image of herself, which is shot artistically similar to her previous covers. Fans also said that they have received a physical version of the artwork in the post, along with a handwritten message from twigs herself.
Yesterday (April 23), twigs took to social media once again to confirm that ‘Cellophane’ would be released today.
An image of herself standing in front of a gold curtain was posted, along with the caption: “throughout my life I’ve practiced my way to being the best I could be, it didn’t work this time. I had to tear down every process I’d ever relied on. go deeper. rebuild. start again.”
Last year, FKA twigs teamed up with A$AP Rocky on the track ‘Fukk Sleep’. She also appeared in a Spike Jonze-directed film, which featured the Anderson .Paak track ‘Til It’s Over’.
Elsewhere, the artist spoke candidly on Instagram last year about her experience of undergoing a procedure to remove six fibroid tumours from her uterus.
