Fleetwood Mac to headline Glastonbury 2013?

Stevie Nicks says band will play European festivals – could they be heading to Worthy Farm?

Stevie Nicks has sparked rumours today that Fleetwood Mac could headline Glastonbury when it returns next year.

The much-revered band announced a series of US shows today as the first leg of their world tour and, although no European dates have been confirmed so far, Nicks revealed that the band hoped to play several festival shows next summer.

“If everything goes well we’ll be in Europe doing festivals this summer,” she said. “Then we’ll actually tour Europe, which is different than just doing festivals. Then we might do 15 or so shows in Australia.”

Although Nicks didn’t mention Worthy Farm by name, her comments are likely to renew speculation that she and her bandmates could top the bill at Glastonbury next summer – especially after festival boss Emily Eavis previously admitted that she would love to see them headline the Pyramid Stage in 2013.

“I think Fleetwood Mac would be amazing to get,” she told NME in October of this year. “I’ll be totally honest we haven’t had any conversations with them yet but, you know, it is still early days. We’re just talking to some headliners now. For us it’s about getting the balance of heritage bands, legends and new bands – just keeping that balance.”

The band will play a large run of US shows from April to June next year, with Nicks promising that 2013 will be “the year of Fleetwood Mac”. They will play:
